11:15 - 12:30: April 15 Yin class will be a Somatics Exercise class. This is an effective practice to relieve muscular contractions by practicing in a way that insists your brain's Cortex (the part of your brain that learns) is involved. This is important because our muscles that did not release after an action was done or a pattern that developed even years ago--and we may not really know what the patterns are--, the brain's awareness of these muscles is not functioning. That tension pattern is maintained in the Sub-Cortex, where it is just ongoing. This is awesome if it was for tying our shoes or knowing how to eat ice cream. Not so great for patterns that are being maintained that makes us feel unhealthy, weak, tense, injured. I highly recommend learning this sequence and taking it home!
